Bay View Academy Launches “Women In Creative Careers” Conference
Academy Offers Free Event for Middle School Girls Focused on Creativity and Empowering Young Women to Lead
Bay View Academy is pleased to announce its new “Women in Creative Careers” Conference (WICC), a program for creative thinkers and doers, taking place on Saturday, March 9. The conference is a FREE, one-day event for any fifth, sixth, seventh or eighth grade girl interested in the exciting world of creativity.
From 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., attendees will enjoy fun, interactive workshops led by Bay View faculty, alumnae and friends of the Academy who are accomplished in creative fields – advertising, architecture, screenwriting, PR, industrial design, illustration, choreography and more. The goals of these educational sessions are to help young girls aspire to be creative and perhaps make a career out of it.
“Coming off the success of our Women In Science & Engineering Conference that we launched two years ago, we are excited to be able to provide girls with an opportunity to learn about creative careers,” said Vittoria Pacifico-DeBenedictis, president of Bay View Academy. “Is your daughter thinking about becoming a musician, artist, designer, dancer or culinary artist? Then join us on March 9 for a day filled with inspiration and creativity.”
At the end of the day, every participant who attends Women in Creative Careers is invited to see an excerpt of Bay View Academy's Advanced Theater class' theatrical piece, "An Unfinished Symphony." This one act drama is an original script written as a collaboration by Bay View students and director, Mrs.Christine Kavanagh. "An Unfinished Symphony" is a series of monologues, musical
expression, and improvisation portraying a story of those who have been touched by cancer.
