Joaquim Amaral, 90, of Hope Street in Bristol, died Friday, Nov. 19, 2010 at his home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Marie (Cruz) Amaral, his loving wife of 35 years. 

Born in Cranston, RI and a lifelong Bristol resident he was the son of the late Joseph and Maria (Augusta) Amaral. Joaquim was a truck driver for many years for the former EB McGirk formerly in Hartford, CT. He was a communicant of St. Elizabeth's Church. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Robert Amaral of Medfield, MA, Jack Amaral of Ellington, CT a daughter Carol Argenta of Windsor, CT., a step-son, Paul Mello and a step-daughter, Linda Nielson both of Bristol. Also survived by 16 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren.

Funeral services from the Sansone Funeral Home, 192 Wood St. in Bristol will be held on Monday, Nov. 22 at 9am with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10am in St. Elizabeth's Church, 577 Wood St., Bristol. Burial will follow in North Burial GroundHope Street in Bristol. Visitation is on Monday morning only at 9am.
