Accident, Power Outages Reported in Warren
National Grid reports that more than 2,000 customers were without power because of an accident.
Several Patch users sent in emails and text messages on Tuesday afternoon regarding an accident that occurred on Child Street in Warren.
According to witnesses, a silver truck collided with a telephone pole on the corner of Child Street and Kinnicutt Avenues in Warren.
"It's a mess over there," one Patch user reported.
Penny Catalano, a witness of the accident, said the pole was hanging in mid-air after the crash.
"I was in my house and I could hear the noise," Catalano said. "The truck literally went right through the pole. And it's amazing, I watched the driver walk out of the truck"
Catalano says the scene was a mess with wires hanging everywhere.
"The worst part is that it's a corner pole, so there are so many people attached to it," Catalano said, noting that she spoke to some friends on Water Street who were also without power after the crash.
According to the National Grid outage map, more than 2,500 customers in Warren were without power as of 1:38 pm. Users from Touisset to the Warren/Swansea line reported being without power around 1:30 pm.
As of 2 pm National Grid reports less than 1,000 customers still without power, with an estimated restoration time of 3 pm.
Warren Police and Warren Fire officials responded to the accident. Traffic is still moving slowly on Child Street. The cause of the accident and extent of injury is unknown at the time.
