View Bristol Ballots Here
Take a look at all 9 ballots in Bristol, and find out where to vote tomorrow.
There's only one day left to make your decisions before heading to the polls Tuesday.
Don't be unprepared when you enter the voting booth. Take a look at the attached ballots so you know what to expect when you go to cast your vote. To view the ballot, open the link and click view - rotate view - clockwise. And check out the attached map to know where to vote and which ballot applies to you.
The presidential race between Barack Obama and Mitt Romney highlights the ballot, of course, but an interesting race is shaping up for Congress between Rep. David Cicilline and former State Police Chief Brendan Doherty. And Sen. Sheldon Whitehouse faces a challenge from B. Barrett Hinkley III to represent Rhode Island in the Senate.
Locally:
- David Barboza and Antonio Teixeira square off for Bristol Town Administrator.
- 15 candidates are vying to serve on the Bristol Town Council. Voters are to choose 5 among them.
- There is only one choice for Bristol's representatives on the Bristol-Warren Regional School Committee: voters are to choose 3 among just 3 candidates.
- Voters also have just one choice for Town Clerk — current Clerk Louis Cirillo is running unopposed.
- Races for the state General Assembly vary by voting district.
The reverse of the ballot features the 8 referenda up for consideration, highlighted by Question 4 to go to bond for $94 million to build a new Veterans Home in Bristol, and Question 1 to approve casino gambling in Rhode Island.
Find your district in the attached map to know your options. And make your case for your favorite candidate in the comments section below. Don't forget to vote!

it's unclear where 68-10-01 votes--- is it at the fire station near the Vet's home?

Linda --
We're in the same voting district (on Butterworth) and we received a card in the mail some months ago informing us we vote at Rockwell School. If you look in the Phoenix, the map chart shows that 68-10-01 = '1' is Rockwell. Hope that helps get you there!

David Barboza and Antonio Teixeira square off for Bristol Town Administrator.
This is the biggest no-brainer decision that residents will make. One man is arrogant, conceited and uncaring. Conversely, Tony Teixeira is fair, intelligent, compassionate and wise. Bristol's next Town Administrator: Mr. Tony Teixeira!

Tony Teixiera is the man for the job. He has the education, the work ethic, and will treat town residents with civility, no matter what question they are posing. As a frequent recipient of Mr. Barboza's dismissive and mocking manner, I look forward to a Town Council that actually welcomes information and questions from their constituents.

Marina Peterson the one is trying to defeat the bond referendum for the much needed Veterans' Home that will help our Veterans check her posting on that blog here is the link:

What makes you think Marina is the only one ? I work with a few people ( a couple from Bristol ) who I thought for sure would be voting yes for this & have told me they will be voting NO....I think it's just that to say your against something like this seems sort of taboo...

I guess technically Marina might not be for the bond referendum but she's NOT against helping our Veterans. Please re-read her post without the chip on your shoulder:
"I find it amazing that we feel a building built in 1954 is in need of being replaced. I know we live in a disposable society, but this is taking it to the extreme. I would rather see an all out request for "in-kind" donations of workers and construction companies to volunteer to repair/replace what is broken. It would be a wonderful project and would probably mean more to the veterans to think that people rallied together to work and improve their home.
As far as supporting the veterans, I would also like to see an all-out push for folks to come and visit the veterans on a regular basis. I have a group that visits the veterans on Christmas morning and we bring cookies and spend the morning with them. You cannot imagine how appreciative they are of people that "give up" (I don't feel it is giving up at all) their Christmas morning to be with them. Last year Brendan Doherty joined us and veteran's had tears in their eyes to think that the Commander of the State Troopers came to see them on Christmas morning. And, before it is mentioned... this was NOT A PHOTO OP for him! No-one but us knew he was there.
Yes, let's remember our veterans with compassion, our time, and our compassion!"

Hey everyone, just a friendly reminder to keep it clean – no name-calling, bigotry, criminal accusations, etc. (And yes, a double-entendre used to disparage members of a political organization counts as name-calling.)

Still Broke I read what Marina had to say and it doesn't make sense to someone who has a family member as a resident at the Veterans' Home. My family and I have supported other bond refereendums like roads and the colleges but now that we have an opportunity to help the residents with a better building why is she picking on them. Going there for Christmas is nice, but we are there much more than that. Enough band-aids on the place the Veterans need a new building

Barboza is a no for me, seen enough of him over the years to see it is time for him to leave the public scene for the good of Bristol. Tony Teixeira is a definate YES. The guy is honest and has been on the peoples side which is what we need.
Not voting for any of the Ballot questions. These economic times call for saving money not the status quo of borrowing. To question 4. Sorry but also a NO. It sounds to much of a smoke and mirrors to get certain politicians hands in a cookie jar at the expense of our vets. $138 million to build this facility sounds shady at best.
A ten year time line until it is completed it totally unrealistic and smells to high heaven. This plan is either a ill thought out or a scam in my opinion which is a sad way for politicians to treat those we hold dear, namely our vets and their families.
To the Casino; as usualy pie in the sky rhetoric that will not help a thing. When they allow the Narragansetts to build one, I will support it. Until then never.
The rest of the questions can be put off until we actually become a State that supports Business with real jobs and not these seasonal tourism low paying jobs in stead of being the worst State to do business in. Can't increase the taxbase with out a plan like that.
My opinion ;-}

Here's the best advice for voters-Whatever way Jack Baillargeron and Marina Peterson vote, DO THE OPPOSITE.
Two people such as them who are voting against a new home for our veterans are a disgrace to the town, a disgrace to the state, and a disgrace to the United States.
VOTE YES FOR A NEW VETERANS HOME-OUR VETERANS DESERVE NOTHING LESS!
Anthony D. Murgo

Patrick in your article you state voters are to choose five council candidates which is a bit misleading because you may vote for up to five or one, two or none. Voters need only to vote for the candidate of their choice even if less than five.

no regr allia b: Obviously you never served our Country in the armed services like our Veterans have but yet you hide behind a fake name and make negative comments about the Veterans' Home bond referendum. Just remember it is our VETERANS who give you the right to free speech through the sacrifices they have made. Maybe you should read why the project may seem like a lot of money rather than being so critical. Guess you didn't hear General Centracchio explain it on the radio tody

You would be wrong. I am a vets as are most of my family members including my mother and Aunts uncles brothers etc. We go back to the 1800 in military life. Like I said, the problem is 10 years build time, that is unbelievable and should raise red flags everywhere. We build a central FireStation for around $5million that is state of the art. You could build 27 of them with this plan.
As I said on another post, Texas A&M build a new facility in 2 years the size of 2 1/2 football fields. 230,000 square ft. With state of the art Medical labs, class rooms and every modern thing you can think of. Why is this so expensive and so long to build. No one has explained the 10 year time line! You can trust the State to do well by our vets. I know different having worked with disabled vets and VFW's up until 5 years ago. No I didnt here the General, I rarely listen to a radio. It is not a fake name it is a real actual name.

To answer your question, to my knowledge, Mosaico has never received Head Start nor Community Service Block Grants. In fact, though not applicable, we have not received Community Development Block Grants since 2010. Mosaico B&CDC has been approved to receive 2012 CDBG, but has not yet received it. There is no conflict
If MOSAICO is has applied for federal funds that is a blatant violation of the federal law

Fran-You have to realize, "no regr allia b" is the screen name of the self proclaimed King of the Patch, Jack Baillargeron. He spends 23 out of 24 hours per day spewing his anti-government garbage, all while collecting a federal pension as a retired federal fireman at the Newport Navy Base.
The fact that he doesn't want our veterans to have a decent place to live while he sits home and collects a fat federal goverment pension check is beyond comprehension.
VOTE YES ON A NEW HOME FOR OUR ELDERLY AND DISABLED VETERANS-THEY HAVE EARNED IT!
no regr allia b
10:17 am on Tuesday, November 6, 2012
On that I agree, but being pessimist on the State Government is not unusual for any citizen. We could do the why game all day. Why was it not done 10 years ago, when all the problems came to light on the roof, access points, electrical, plumbing, need for modern facilities. The economy even in RI was fairly good?
I know why. It was because the vets were not needed as a political football back then. Now it is the old who would dare vote against this bond. Well I and a lot of others I know dare too and many are vets. This issue is not about being against vets. It is about doing it the right way so the vets get the best bang for the buck not the politicians.
I still submit the cost is suspect and the 10 year build time is not realistic and very very strange to say the least. In any case the vote will decide it and I suspect it will pass also. However there will be a lot more than 3 or 4 people not voting for it.

Fran, Realistic is not synonymous with Pessimistic. We should not be borrowing any more money.
And yes, our Veterans do deserve a better home. We need to put pressure on our legislators to fund this through out state budget.
According to Rep. Gallison, the state is not broke, and I quote. " I also don't know where you are getting your facts. Our State is not broke. In fact for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2012, we had a SURPLUS! If you don't believe me check the following link:
http://news.providencejournal.com/breaking-news/2012/09/rhode-island-en-1.html"
We need to make sure that this is a priority when the legislature reconvenes.

Very true regarding ourFran, and also you're 100% right on the answer you gave to Jeffrey Jeffrey regarding the TT for TA. While Dave Barboza isn't the greatest choice, he's surely the lesser of two evils.

Typical resort to name calling and insults, well believing a poster who is not a resident and hides behind my name in an atempt to antaganize as usual. Funny Fran you tried to say my name was fake, but believe an actual fake name lol.
I have many relatives buried in Arlington as I will be. I do not discuss my military ever except in person and only with other vets. Never on a internet. But you go ahead and believe the lies of a non-vet when it suits your agenda. That in my books make you the one with no stones as you said.
You onviously do not support free Speech unless it agree's with you. That is sad and disgusting at the same time. This is about the vets and ballot questions not personal attacks. So grow up you do not know me or my history and niether does the other (it) who I do not respond to as that is his plan to turn every blog into personal attacks as he has done for years now.

I am happy for you Fran, I know that you wanted to borrow this money very badly. The voters have spoken. That's why we live in America.

Being proud of more debt is hardly a virtue. Open your mouth in 10 years when we see what is done. A decade is still a rediculous timeline to do that building no matter how you slice it. Watch for the scandles that will surely come from this debacle. By the way over 20,000 voted against it so hardly it was hardly just 2 people as you seem to still blame.
On the bright side for me Barboza is gone from the scene, so not a bad day on Bristol with Tony T as Administrator.

Jack and Marina-For your information, the referendum for a new veterans home passed 80%-20%, which was a landslide.
You two chronic complainers must really be crying in your cornflakes this morning-President Obama re-elected, David Cicciline re-elected, Kenny Marshall, Teresa Paiva-Weed, and Gordon Fox all winning in a landslide-it's great to be a Rhode Islander today-YAHOO!
