Jennifer Cavallaro, owner of the Beehive Café in Bristol, has been diligently fighting card swipe fees and was recently noted in an article on Businessweek.com for her efforts.

Cavallaro was quoted in the article saying, “I understand now that I’ve gotten involved in this that nothing is ever over in Washington. If we are patient over the next few years, we might be able to change the rule.”

According to the article, many merchants say, "card-charge costs can be their highest expense after labor" and that merchants alone have little ability to negotiate fee reductions with credit card companies like Visa and MasterCard.
