I know Tony Teixeira. Went to school with him. What you see is what you get & that is a genuine decent individual & I would vote for him no matter what he runs for. I don't see Kenny Marshalls name here as a candidate for Dist. 68. In my opnion the only thing he has in his crosshairs is the 1st District US House seat which he was contemplating running for the last go around. Someone may have suggested he reconsider because he really has no record to run for that kind of seat. His campaign for the Dist 68 seat will be basically a stepping stone for him & nothing more than that. If he did win the 68 seat he may do the RI version of "Let's Make A Deal" in the State House to get some sort of record for a future campaign for the 1st District US House seat. I'm not so sure I want someone making deals especially with the corrupt culture in this state. Plus I would want someone to represent me who is truly involved in the here & now & not some future endeavor. Again this is just my opinion.

Have to agree with you on Tony, that is exactly what he is to me, the Common man. Also a breath of fresh air on the political scene for me anyway.

Bear401... I agree with you... Both on Tony Teixiera and on Ken Marshall. His recent involvement in the EBEC fiasco and the way that they tried to push through that legislation which included eminent domain powers has to leave people wondering whose interests were prime here. Definitely not the residents of Bristol!

I echo the same sentiments about Marshall. We don't need another self serving politician in the State House. We have MORE than enough thank you!

If elected, I think Mr. Marshall would do a great job. He has certainly proven himself to be an effective steward, doing the best for the people along with the BTC, even if it flew in the face of adversity or conflict. His involvement in the EBEC was equal to the representation from other towns who were *also seeking alternative energy sources and solutions for the future.

Sorry Vicky this part of your post is factualy incorrect.

" His involvement in the EBEC was equal to the representation from other towns who were *also seeking alternative energy sources and solutions for the future."

He was not equal like the other towns involved, it was his Idea and he started the EBEC, as he has stated many times in public. The town of Bristol was the main component and handled the vast majority of everything involved in with Diane Williamson.

The EBEC was not "seeking alternative energy sources and solutions for the future.", It was attempting to become an Electric Untility with the taxpayers money no different than the BCWA and the other 21 other quasi-entities draining and raping taxpayers pockets with fantasies and lies of massive profits with out a single shred of proof or numbers of any kind to prove it. All of this was proven in the last few months by watching the State House debates on the EBEC. Those are the real indisputable facts.

All I can say is that I'm sure Tony Teixiera would be a lot better than than that self-grandizing, egotistical, "I know what's good for Bristol", jerk with the Napolionic Complex David Barboza!

The Town of Bristol and its people deserve a fair minded, diplomatic, intelligent person to hold the office of Town Administrator. David Barboza is NOT that person and not by a LONG shot. The only alternative - and a wise choice because this man possesses the attributes mentioned above, is Mr. Tony Teixeira. Let us not hesitate for a moment when voting day comes. Any other result for Bristol would be a travesty.

After seeing the performace of an (Independent) in Governor Gump, I am weary of an inexperienced, party of one in this position. Long way to go on this choice. Nice guys, especially retired public servents, are not the best option for doing the right thing for the greater good. Has Tony only been employed by the government?

@Dave, I can understand where you are coming from. May I suggest the following.

If you would like a bio on Mr. Teixiera, please read about the annoucement of him being selected Chief Marshal of the Bristol 4th of July Parade on the Bristol 4th of July website. I feel you will get a better understanding as to who the man is.

Happy 4th of July!

@Dave: Do as Joe DeMelo suggested to learn more about Mr. Teixeira. Above all else he is a fair, wise, intelligent man who will make Bristol proud. That cannot be said for his upcoming opponent who can be divisive, hold a grudge and is one who would make most of his decisions based on emotion and not on facts and reason. Bristol cannot be burdened as such.
