Around 8:30 p.m. on Monday, Bristol police officers and firefighters responded to a two-story house that was engulfed in flames on the corner of Pawtucket Avenue and North Street near the Kickemuit River at the bottom of Butterworth Avenue.

The second story of the house was fully engulfed in flames by the time officials arrived. Firefighters doused most of the blazing fire, yet the wind continued to feed flames. As of 9:30 p.m., firefighters had entered the home and were still attempting to extinguish small batches of remaining fire.

It is believed the blaze may have been electrical, caused by holiday lights. According to officials, everyone made it out of the house and there are no serious injuries.

And the firefighters who risked their lives to stop that home from burning down and prevented surrounding houses from catching fire even with the high winds and close residential buidings?

I think, the East Bay papers has some REAL competition... Time to Beef it up East Bay Papers, you have been our source for a long time and we know you can do it again, but you have to admit you have been slacking!
Good Job, PATCH!

The Bristol Fire Department and officials absolutely deserve all of the kudos for all of their efforts. Officials remained on the scene of the fire last night for hours ensuring that the situation was totally under control. Great job and a big thank you to all those involved!

I think Sunshine is right. There are so many issues with the East Bay Papers, this is a breath of fresh air!

Sunshine, why does East Bay News have to pick up the slack? I mean, I understand why you would say it. You’re right, EBN is getting knocked off it’s perch its’ held for so long. I guess what I’m asking is, why do they have to reclaim the top? The way I see it, EBN has a printed paper and that’s all they’ll be able to do. They aren’t staffed as well as ill equipped to compete with Patch, a purely online news website. Patch is relatively new to our area. As they are ironing out the kinks, and growing themselves, they’ve already took the top spot in East Bay news. As more people learn of Patch, the more will use the site and become involved, and the more people get involved, the site will improve 10fold. Most breaking news stories that occur in our towns, Patch is there - even before Channel 10 and 12. They have some great interactive sections, and some talented writers. As Patch expands, the better it will become. In my opinion, EBN will never be on this level, until they ditch the printed paper and become an online paper; the problem with that, though? Patch will have had a big head start on them. Don’t get me wrong about EBN, I have nothing against them, but Patch deserves to be on top and each day, they show us way. Thanks Patch Team!
