The magazine is now available online.

Bristol has an up and coming author who just released her first Young Adult literary magazine.

Hannah R. Goodman, a Bristol resident, mother and teacher, announced that her new digital literary journal, Sucker Literary Magazine was released on the magazine’s blog on January 23, 2012.

This first issue features 13 stories written by 12 writers. The Sucker editorial staff and contributors hail from all over the United States and Canada, including 14 different states.

Goodman writes on the magazine’s site, "Sucker Literary Magazine is a platform for established and emerging, hugely intelligent writers who have the grit and talent to create compelling, authentic young adult literature that both adults and teens can enjoy.”

Goodman says her vision for Sucker includes mentoring writers whose pieces are a few revisions away from gold.

Goodman wants to publish “literary YA fiction that is provocative and hopeful. Inspiring without preaching. I don’t care if there’s aliens or vampires or wolves…but if there is, they better make me laugh or cry. I want character and voice driven work that doesn’t rely on a heavy plot. That being said, I also want to be entertained and feel engrossed in the action.”

Submissions for the magazine's second issue are being accepted between February 1 and May 1.

Hannah Goodman, M.Ed, MFA, is represented by Erzsi Deak of Hen&ink Literary Studio and is the author of YA novel, My Sister’s Wedding, which won the first place award for The Writer’s Digest International Self-Publishing Contest, 2004, children’s book division. She published the follow-up, My Summer Vacation, in May 2006, which went on to win a bronze IPPY in 2007. The third Maddie book, Fear of Falling was released in the fall of 2009 and was praised by teachers and readers for tackling subjects like homophobia and coming out. She’s published young adult short stories on Amazon’s Shorts, in an anthology entitled Bound Is The Bewitching Lilith, and in the journal Balancing The Tides. She also has written columns for The Jewish Voice & Herald and is a graduate of Pine Manor College’s Solstice Program in Creative Writing.
