Bristol Town Beach Reopens
The Health Department said bacteria levels have returned to an acceptable level.
Just in time for the weekend, the state Department of Health announced Friday that Bristol Town Beach has reopened to swimming.
The Health Department shut down the beach, at 50 Asylum Road, on Wednesday after finding higher than acceptable levels of bacteria. New water samples that show bacteria levels within acceptable limits at Bristol beach, as well as Newport's Third Beach, King Park Beach and Fort Adams State Beach, and Warwick's Goddard Memorial State Park Beach. Al have been reopened.
The Health Department has recommended the closing of Newport's Peabody’s Beach to swimming due to high bacteria counts. Officials will continue to monitor the water quality and recommend re-opening when the beach when conditions are safe for swimming.
