Sorry Carol, but it seems like Diana Campbell may have been too closely aligned with the teabaggers, and there's where she met her demise.

It's somewhat hard to determine if she is aligned with, or was supported by the teabaggers, but if she wants to have any shot of winning in 2014, she should seek the endorsement of the Democratic Town Committee, and distance herself from the teabaggers.

Jack, "aligned with teabaggers?" Are you kidding? Really? If you have read any of my blogs, you will know that I am quite liberal. I have been an Independent since I first registered to vote. It was the height of the Viet Nam War. Mr. Nash, Mr. Matrone, and Mr. Fasano helped all who were interested to register at the new Bristol High School. At the time, I was very anti-everything, and registered as an Independent. I have been one every since -- always voting my conscience, always speaking my mind, always being open to new ideas. I founded Voices for Bristol with the sole intention of giving voice to the residents of the Town who were not being heard by the party system. I founded Voices before the Tea Party was founded. I realize that you may be right that, in order to be elected, I may have to choose to be a part of a party. That is a choice that I will not take lightly, if I decide to go that way. You are absolutely wrong, however, about my alignment with the Tea Party. They would not agree with my positions on pretty much every issue of the day.

As you probably noticed now that the campaign is over, Rhode Islanders are very wary and suspicious of the teabaggers, and when someone runs as an independent, many voters automatically think teabagger.

If you decide to run for election again in 2014, here's some advice for you: No need to join a major party-Texeira and Linc Chafee proved independents can win in RI. Also, while you can't control who endorses you, having Jack Baillargeron, Marina Peterson, or any of their ilk endorsing you does you no favors whatsoever.

You seem like a nice person, and someone who will stand up for the working class/public employees, women's rights, etc. If you can get that message across to the voters in the next two years and distance yourself from the war mongering, anti-union, women hating teabaggers, you will have many more supporters on election day.
