First Congregational Church to Hold Service for Newtown, CT
The Bristol church has scheduled a "Service of Healing and Hope" for Dec. 30 at 10 am.
A local congregation is planning a service to remember and pray for Newtown, CT, the site of a Dec. 14 school shooting that left 28 people dead, including 20 schoolchildren.
First Congregational Church of Bristol has scheduled a "Service of Healing and Hope" for Sunday morning, Dec. 30, at 10 am.
Pastor Dan Randall explained in a recent email message that the congregation "wanted to hold the service on our usual day of worship and focus on this," adding, "I think we all feel connected to Newtown right now."
Randall also said that the service is meant as an opportunity "or our faith community to listen and pray and develop ways in which we can actively address the wider issues of violence in our society — it is my sincere hope we can find creative and healing ways to help our wider community during this time."
