Fruit Donation Helps Fill Pantry's Shelves
Bristol Good Neighbors, which serves breakfast and lunch every day for those in need, is always looking for more donations.
The Bristol Good Neighbors Soup Kitchen is always looking for new donations to help feed those in need, and recently got a bounty thanks to the Narragansett Bay Wheelmen
The Wheelmen sponsored the Flattest Century in the East last week, hosting 2,200 cyclists to ride 100 miles through towns including Dartmouth and Tiverton. The Wheelmen provided snack stops with fresh fruit along the route, but fewer cyclists than were expected showed up in the rain, resulting in extra fruit. NBW donated four cases of grapes, four cases of bananas and three cases of oranges to Bristol Good Neighbors.
Combined with the continuing donations of fresh vegetables from Frereich's Farm and other local farmers, the food pantry of Good Neighbors has a wonderful assortment of healthy food! But more is always needed. To make a donation to the soup kitchen, stop by Bristol Good Neighbors at 378 Hope St., Bristol, Monday-Friday 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. For more information, call 401-253-7785.
For those in need, the soup kitchen serves breakfast daily 8-10:30 a.m., and lunch daily at 11:30 a.m.
