Health Dept. Suggests Private Well Owners Boil Water Before Use
The Department of Health is asking private well owners to boil their water as a safety precaution.
Due to the excessive snow from the winter storm and the additional rainfall this past Monday, some private wells in Bristol and Warren may have reduced water quality.
The Rhode Island Department of Health (HEALTH) reminds Rhode Islanders who lost water pressure or have a flooded well head (surrounded by water), to take steps to ensure the safety of drinking water:
- Boil water for one minute before using it for cooking, drinking, or bathing of infants.
- Get water tested for bacteria by a state-certified laboratory.
