Mom's Talk Q&A: Favorite Swimming Spots

Where is your favorite place to swim in Bristol and Warren?

Larger beaches can be costly for parking and come with hazards of rip tides and currents. So where is the best place to cool off and go for a swim in Bristol and Warren?

Rebecca says:

My family's favorite place to swim is in the Kickemuit River down on Slocum.  We bring out the canoe and the kayak and some of us swim, splash and jump off the boogie board and some of us row around.  It is conveniently right down the street from our house, too.

Sometimes the kids don't like big waves so they can actually swim about.  They bring their goggles and look at sea life under the water.  We go quahogging and follow the crabs, too.  There is no red tide like you find in other large beaches around the state.

We feel safe swimming in the "Kicky".

Ann says:

I would say the best place to swim around here is in the Kickemuit River down on Sherman.

Since Warren has the sewer plant near the beach we don't go there.

There is less boat access in the Kickemuit than in Mt. Hope Bay therefore there are less pollutants in the river waters.

The pollution in bay is not coming from boats . Most of it is run off from street parking lots storm drains. Most boater are clean and respect the water ways. It the people using cem lawn that do mOst of the damage to water quality
