Spring Concert Headliners Thrill RWU Students

Third Eye Blind and Lupe Fiasco performed at the Roger Williams University Spring Concert on Thursday, April 28th.

students stood in a line spanning about 70 yards long in front of the Recreation Center. The misty weather was not going to stop students from getting a good spot in front of the stage.

But the line was nothing compared to the three to four hours they waited to buy their tickets a few weeks ago. As soon as the doors were opened, the students quickly pilled into the Field House, their excitement growing with each passing step.

This years Spring Concert headliners were Third Eye Blind and Lupe Fiasco. The tickets for the show were sold out on the first day after only six hours.

“Thank you guys for inviting us,” said Stephan Jenkins, Third Eye Blind lead vocalist. “We’re very flattered to be here.”

As the drum beat and guitars began to play the excitement intensified. The crowd roared in anticipation of the concert to come.

“I’m super excited because I’m a freshmen so I’ve never been to a college concert,” said Buckley. “It’s going to be worth it.”

After Third Eye Blind finished their set, the equipment on stage was moved around to get ready for the next act. As the lights dimmed once more and Lupe Fiasco danced onto the stage the crowd went wild.

“It would have been nice if Third Eye Blind played more songs,” said Scott McMann, RWU Senior. “Lupe was playing a beat while Third Eye Blind was playing a song.”

After the concert finished, the students left the Recreation Center still hyped up from the concert. Walking back to their dorms, they sang the songs they had just heard with their friends. It was clear that Third Eye Blind and Lupe Fiasco had made a lasting impression.
