Help protect and serve the community.

The Bristol Police Department will be hosting a Citizen’s Police Academy starting Oct. 2. The goal of the academy is to provide citizens of Bristol a better understanding of the mission and operations of the department, according to a police department release. Topics include department structure, patrol procedures, dispatch operations, narcotics, search warrants, crime scene investigation, use of force, domestic violence, traffic enforcement, D.U.I. investigation, duties of the school resource officer, juvenile crime and the court system.

Applications are available at the Bristol Police Department or at www.bristolri.us/police.  All completed applications must be submitted to Bristol Police Headquarters by Friday, Sept. 28. For more information, contact Lt. Brian C. Burke (days) or Lt. Scott McNally (evenings) at 401-253-6900.

This is a really great program and we're very lucky to have it offered in our town (at no charge!). I attended this two years ago and learned a lot and got to meet some great officers in the process. If you can make the classes, definitely sign up! :-)
