Metacom Sidewalks Buried Under Snow and Slush
Sidewalks on Metacom Avenue are impassable today due to snow build up from last week's storm and today's icy mixture
As predicted, the sidewalks on Metacom Avenue are impassable in areas, with piles of snow, slush and ice completely blocking passage for pedestrians.
An ordinance in the town of Warren requires property owners to keep their sidewalks clear, yet on Tuesday afternoon, most Metacom sidewalks were piled with five inches of snow or more. Residents, including David Silvia at last week's Warren Town Council, have complained in the past about having to maneuver around giant snow piles that force them into the heavily traveled road or through parking lots.
Sidewalks were clear, yet slushy, in front of CVS and Burger King, but other areas closer to Bristol were completely untouched. The parking lot in front of AT&T was plowed, but snow had been pushed right up to the fence where the sidewalk begins, forcing sidewalk pedestrians to either walk around and through the road, or climb over the pile of snow.
