Warren Police and Fire Brace Town for Hurricane Irene

The Warren Police and Fire Departments have released an announcement with local shelters and important information for residents.

and have issued a joint release to keep residents informed on Hurricane Irene.

According to the release, Warren officials are expecting Irene to arrive in Rhode Island late Sunday evening, early Monday morning.

Several emergency shelters will be set up town wide at the following locations:

  1. – Main Street,  
  2. – Vernon Street,  
  3. – Child Street 
  4. – Touisset Road. 

An emergency shelter for residents with animals will also be set up at the Warren Recreation Center, or the old Mary V. Quirk building at 790 Main Street. Residents should be aware that anyone bringing an animal must provide proof of vaccinations.

Residents are advised that they should bring their own blankets, pillows, and essential items. Emergency shelters will be staffed beginning at 6:00pm Sunday evening.

Residents with other questions regarding these weather conditions should call the Fire Chief/EMA directors office at 245-7600.
