Monday, Feb. 11

11:35 a.m. —

• National Grid reports 110 outages remaining in Bristol and Warren.

Sunday, Feb. 10

5:35 p.m. —

The Warren shelter has been moved from Kickemuit Middle School to the Senior Center below Town Hall, Lt. Roland Brule said in an email message.

"It will remain open as long as any resident needs it for heat," Brule wrote.

5 p.m. —

Slightly fewer than 5,200 customers remain without power, well below the 13,000 reported Sunday morning, according to National Grid. In a statement, the utility company announced full power could be restored as early as tonight.

4:30 p.m. —

Warren Police Lt. Roland Brule, in an email message on behalf of Town Manager Tom Gordon, confirmed that trash collection in Warren is on schedule for Monday, Feb. 11.

2:48 p.m. —

Our Lady of Mount Carmel has cancelled classes for Monday, Feb. 11.

2:35 p.m. —

Roger Williams University classes at the Bristol campus are cancelled for Monday, Feb. 11. The Providence campus will be open. Find more closing alerts here.

12 p.m. —

The Bristol-Warren School Committee announced that it will not hold its meeting scheduled for Monday, Feb. 11.

11:30 a.m. —

• The Bristol-Warren School District has cancelled classes for Feb. 11. No out-of-town buses, no COZ, no afterschool activities. Find more closing alerts here.
• The Bristol Police Department has also continued the parking ban for Sunday.
• Bristol/Warren Adult GED also cancelled its classes scheduled for Monday.

9:50 a.m. —

National Grid is reporting some progress in restoring power to Bristol and Warren, with about 3,000 out of 16,000 customers back online.

Saturday, Feb. 9

5 p.m. —

• Warren Police Lt. Roland Brule contacted Bristol-Warren Patch via email and confirmed that the town's shelter is at Kickemuit Middle School, opening at 5:30 pm.
• The Bristol 4th of July Committee Valentine's breakfast scheduled for Feb. 10 has been postponed until a date to be announced.

3:15 p.m. —

Gov. Lincoln Chafee has announced an end to the travel ban at 4 pm Saturday.

3 p.m. —

Local officials are preparing shelters for residents without power, as temperatures are expected to fall into the single digits Saturday night. The shelter for Bristol residents will be Mt. Hope High School.

9:30 a.m. —

• Gov. Chafee imposed a travel ban on all Rhode Island roads just before 9 am, until further notice.
• With temperatures expected to drop into the single digits tonight, utility crews are scrambling to restore power.

Friday, Feb. 8 —

7:40 p.m.

National Grid has increased its number of outages in Bristol and Warren to 61. The utility company estimates the 45 outages in Warren should be corrected by 12:01 am Saturday, and the 16 in Bristol by 6 am.

5:50 p.m.

Gov. Lincoln Chafee announced a traffic restriction on the state's major highways, including I-195 and Rte. 24 in the East Bay, starting at 5 pm Friday.

The restriction will continue until further notice.

Exceptions are being made for the following:

• public safety and public works vehicles and workers, including contract personnel;
• government officials on official business;
• utility company vehicles and workers;
• health care workers who travel to and from work in order to provide essential health services;
• news media;
• travel necessary to maintain and deliver critical private sector services such as energy, fuel supplies, financial systems and critical commodities;
• travel to support business operations that provide critical services to the public, including gas stations, food stores and hardware stores.

4:45 p.m.

National Grid is reporting 45 customers without power in Warren in the area of Metacom Avenue. Follow and report outages on the National Grid Outage Central website.

Warren Town Manager Thomas Gordon announced that Warren Town Hall will close at 12:30 pm today.

9:45 a.m.

Bristol Town Administrator Tony Teixeira posted an alert on Bristol-Warren Patch about the town's parking ban and what residents can do if they don't have driveways, plus important contact information in case of power outages — see his comment at the bottom of this article.

Other news:

• The blizzard watch issued for the last few days has been upgraded to a blizzard warning, according to the Rhode Island EMA. 
• Gov. Lincoln Chafee has put the state's Adverse Weather Policy into effect — time missed from work during the storm has to be recorded as time off without pay, annual leave, or personal leave.
• All RIPTA service, including non-medical RIde trips, will suspend at noon.

Thursday, Feb. 7 —

7:29 p.m.

The Rhode Island Broadcasters Association cancellation alert system reports that Roger Williams University has cancelled classed for Friday and Saturday. Essential services personnel report.

3:23 p.m.

The Bristol-Warren School District has announced no school for Friday, Feb. 8, with no out of town busing, no COZ, and no after-school activities.

2:45 p.m.

The Town of Bristol issued a parking ban beginning Friday at noon, until further notice. Find more information on delays and cancellations here.

10:34 a.m.

The Town of Warren has imposed a parking ban beginning at noon on Friday, until further notice. Any cars left on the street may be ticketed or towed at the owner's expense, according to a notice on the town's website.
