This is really disgusting that our local library would choose to show this heinous ultra right wing propaganda against the President of the United States to the voting public days before the election. This is a biased and unfair choice with no counter film to show about Romney and his blatant lies. I suggest that the Free Library cancel this plan immediately. I would hope that the Free in Rogers Free Library would mean BIPARTISAN.

Rogers Free Library regulations/policy states: "No inflammatory or Political films may be shown." This movie is clearly both.

Of course Jack Baillargeron and Marina Peterson will be getting front row seats for this movie-anything that furthers their right wing teabagger cause.

The fact that this piece of trash movie is being shown in a PUBLIC library is nothing short of disgusting.

RI is the bluest state in the country. It has been that way for 75 years. What the heck is all the fuss about???

Approximately 50 people came to see the film. All agreed it was objective and informative. Everyone came away with a much better understanding of President Obama's background and philosophies.

If you want to know the truth about Obama's life from an objective reporter (not by right winger D'Souza, who by the way was recently stripped of his presidency from Kings College NY for checking into a hotel with a student, and he is married) then read BARACK OBAMA the Story, by David Maraniss. He traveled the world for three years and interviewed hundreds of people for first hand info on Obama and his life story, and researched his geneology from Africa to Kansas, and searched all pertinent documents. Now, that is objective...if, of course, you want objectivity.

Marina....it is not all guts and glory, but what the book does show is the depth of his character from a very young age. He had a very dfficult life, missed his mother terribly, tried hard to fit in at his schools in Hawaii where was called a racist name for black. In college he surrounded himself with international students and friends and was always discussing international policy and was a very worldly, well traveled, and curious young man. The book ends when he ran for political office in Chicago. When you read it, the thought will occur to you that it seems impossible for him to ever grow up and become President. That is really the strength of our nation....that indeed, it WAS possible. Enjoy.

I am very interested in reading it! It sounds very much like the movie, which also shows his depth of character and the sadness of his childhood. After viewing the movie I have a new empathy for him and a better understanding of his views. They may not concur with mine, but I have a better comprehension of why he feels the way he does, and what drives him. When he received the phone call that his father had died, and his subsequent visit to Kenya, the viewer can feel the amount of pain and loss that he was experiencing. His mission to make his father proud of him is compelling.
Again, while I don't agree with most of his policies, I better understand the man.
