Stop the Proposed Toll!

DOT/RITBA are having a public forum on the proposed toll on the Sakonnet Bridge on Monday, December 3rd at 7 pm at the Portsmouth High school Auditorium.

We ask that business owners, commuters, tourists, residents and voters attend and tell DOT/RITBA why the proposed toll will have a long-term, detrimental economic impact on the area.

The PBA urges everyone to attend the meeting and let your voices be heard. You can also bring letters addressed to the Governor and elected officials and we will make sure they get your letters. This is a key opportunity to tell officials the effect that a toll would have on you and your business.

ELEPHANT!!! TOLLS? MEETING ? THE PetitionThat jeanne Smith started and I took all over the island was to make sure that an econmonic impact study was done. FOR public hearing where the public could speak, only 2 weeks ago the DOT annouced that 2 such meeting would be held DEc 3rd and 4th, Why the hurray? Could it be that STOP is doing their own impact study? DOT did a study over the THANKSGIVING weekend by E-mail only 70 people and businesses were included in the so called study and only 26 reply's were recieved,The DOT is going to use those figures to show NOBODY or Busineeses think the tolls are harmful?By doing this they hope and think that the STOP study can just be IGNORED. 26 out of 70? I have already gotten over 40 Businesees in MIddletown to complete the STOP study and would and could get more given time, , Yesterday I got 9 places in Porsmouth to complete the study and places in Newport to fill it out, Would have done more but i ran out of copies, I'm the guy with the cowboy hat and the no tolls shirt, I can't do this after today, getting a new knee, SO YOU will have to carry rhe fight forward, STOP the DOT"DONE DEAL" again, make them hold more meeting Demand your reps speak public and loudly against this, the GA and the DOT be FAIR and HONEST and it must be done NOW before these meetings just railroad this whole process, NO NEW TOLLS, THANKS,

Did anyone in the PBA do the DOT study and are they willing to post a copy of it! It should be a public document shouldn't it?

What about the CRAPPY surface of that bridge? The WHOLE length of it undulates like the White Mountains!

Anyone know if that is just a temp topping?
