Who will be Town Administrator in Bristol?

With Diane Mederos announcing that she will not run again for Town Administrator, there is much speculation on who will run, and who can win.

My vote goes for Tony Teixiera!  He is the breath of fresh air that is sorely needed in Bristol.  He has accomplished much in his first term on the Town Council and he is respected by all.

Even though it was his first term, he was not afraid to take on the problems of the Bristol County Water Authority, ask tough questions, and head a committee that wrote new (and much needed)  legislation for the Bristol County Water Authority Act.  Unfortunately, after much hard work and coordination between towns, the recommendations ended up sitting on a solicitor's desk for two months before getting forwarded to the legislators.  If he had not had the tenacity to follow up on this legislation it would probably still be sitting there, unprocessed.

He also did his own research on the East Bay Energy Consortium and came to the conclusion that it was not a project that should be under government control.

These are just two of the issues that he has shown true leadership on and has shown that he is his own man.

And, above all, he is a gentleman!  He does not berate those who disagree with him or ask questions. He will listen to every viewpoint respectfully and make up his own mind.

He is devoted to Bristol and his credentials are excellent (which is why he was chosen as Grand Marshall for this year's 4th of July Parade) and I, for one, hope he throws his hat into the ring.

As the top vote getter for the Town Council race last election, he will certainly have much support.

Well-deserved, high praise for Mr. Teixiera.

Thank you, Marina, for taking the time to give voice to sentiments shared by many.

Mr. Teixiera is a rarity in this day and age. He is a much-needed role model as to decency and old-fashioned values.

Thank you for your service thus far, Mr. Teixiera, and best wishes should you decide to run!

Mr. Teixiera sure has my vote, should he run, have been impressed with his diligence on every challenge that comes forward since he has been on the Council.

Frankly for myself anyway, he so far is one politician I have not disagreed with on anything yet. That is rare indeed ;-}. Well ok maybe one, I just can't remember it.

Hope you consider running, Mr. Teixiera.

Mr. Texiera, hands down.....a true gentleman, a listener, fair, intelligent, thoughtful, balanced, inquisitive, curious, sincere, honest, open, and certainly not arrogant....need I say more? He is exactly what Bristol needs and would be a sound replacement for Diane who was terrific.

Thank you Mr. Texiera for your public service, which is greatly appreciated.

The respect you have from your constituents is well-deserved.

Here's what I've seen from Mr. Texiera:

Integrity. Honesty. Patience. Courteous. Listens. Objective analysis & decisions based on what's in the best interest of the public.

And, Mr. Texiera is "his own man".

Well then Mr. Texiera....after all these glowing endorsements, won't you please throw your hat in the ring and run as an independent? You will have a lot of support! As the Nike ad says "Just do it!" You are so loved and respected in our community!

With Diane's chair still warm, David Barboza uses an excuse to thank her, to turn the subject to his wanting the position and also stating that he has the backing of the Democratic party. God, couldn't he wait. As to Mr. Texiera, how does he place himself into the running, which I wish he doe's and wins, if Barboza has stated he has the backing.

If someone wanted to make a case for cloning, Tony Texiera could be the example. I f there were more individuals like him in our society, the “Golden Rule” would be fact and if we had more like Tony serving us in government the people would never have to wonder if there best interests were being watched over. This County, this State and this Country need a lot more brave folks like Tony Texiera to step forward and join in the battle against “politics as usual”. So if he puts his hand on your shoulder and asks for that help, please don’t shy away. You should be honored that he chose you.

Tony has sent his announcement of declaration in to the Bristol Phoenix. He has also conscientiously included in the announcement that he will fulfill his Fourth of July duties/role prior to commencing with any campaigning.
Best of Luck Tony!!! We support you!

Glad to hear it Tony, you are definatly what we need there, level headed, no frills and no conections to pay of or favors too.

On another note; We need new blood everywhere, not the same old politicians who think they are "Gods gift to the world" and are entitled to be in the possition they hold, rather than realize it is the people who gave them the position, not special interest, it is the people who decide, not special interest, and it is the people who will fire those who have shown no respect for the people, unless of course have the integrity to admit you failed miserably to the people and resign. Yea right that will happen.

I just wish there were more people like Tony to go around in our government.

It's not just Bristol that benefits from good leadership, the whole state benefits.

Thank you Tony for choosing to run.
