. Reagan increased the national debt by over 250% in less than 8 years time with no active wars.Read MoreBus h Sr. increased the debt another 66% in just 4 years with no ongoing wars, Bush Jr. increased the national debt another 90% in 8 years when he inherited BUDGET SURPLUSES, and no wars. When Bush left office he left behind massive new debt, no jobs, a major recession, two wars, and growing national debt. But then the tea party comes along and wants it to all go away. They want the country to stop spending money at a time when unemployment is growing. Show me a single time in history, just one, when the US was spending less money during a recession. It doesn't happen. As people are out of work the government takes in less in taxation. This is not the time to reduce government spending which will drive the country into a depression. The tea nuts know NOTHING about economics and how it works. They are like little children throwing a temper tantrum.

Some sanity is returning to the Country. The Ninth Circuit Court recently ruled in Peruta v. SanRead MoreDie go that California residents did not have to show a "pressing need" for a concealed weapons license. Thursday, the Ninth Circuit extended that to Hawaii by overturning a district court ruling and thus making the Aloha State a shall-issue state. The Court said, "In light of our holding in Peruta, the district court made an error of law when it concluded that the Hawaii statutes did not implicate protected Second Amendment activity. Accordingly, we vacate the district court's decision denying [the plaintiff's] motion for a preliminary injunction and remand for further proceedings consistent with Peruta." We're glad to see that even the Ninth Circuit acknowledges that the Second Amendment means what it says.

Continued; You can also contact the Newport rifle Club. They will be more than happy to show youRead Morehow to safely shot a handgun. You do not need to purchase one yet. There are many member who will be happy to let you go there and have various handguns they will let you fire. They do this for free as well as teach safely to anyone who want to learn about arms. Much of this argument boils down to emotion and knee jerk reactions or political vote pandering with out knowledge of exactly what is the cause and effect of these gun control laws people are demanding. There are over 87 million gun owners in this Country of all persuasions. The own over 300 million weapons. Yet we do not have millions dead do to this, because they are honest law abiding citizens who have never committed a crime. There are currently estimated to be over 20,000 laws, regulations and ordinances on the books throughout this Country. Part of the problem is most are not enforced and the sentencing of those who break the law are not applied forcefully enough to discourage repeat offence. There is no easy fix all answer. But penalizing Honest law abiding citizens for the actions of a few crazy people is not the answer. Why is it when some crazy individual commits a crime with a gun.? The politician and agenda driven gun control crowd, go after the one part of the populace that did nothing wrong? It is illogical and only protect the criminals well leaving those citizen unprotected. Remember Police are not there to protect you until after the crime is in play or over. Nor are they present when it starts in almost all cases. They are minutes away. Crimes with guns happen in seconds. Like any crime, it can be devastating to you and family. I would prefer to be able to have fire power at the very least equal to what a criminal has for that reason.

Sorry these answers are so long but when ever the answer is the simple one, which it I have theRead Morerigh t to protect my self, family and property and the 2nd Amendment give me the right to have the tools to do it. It is never enough for gun control advocates. They would argue that the word "infringe" has a different meaning then what the founders in tended and always forget the comma that follow the word militia. That make it 2 separate statements in that sentence of the Amendment. One is about having a prepared militia at all times of the people (nothing to do with a standing army). The other is a sacred right in almost all State Constitutions. Rhode Islands Constitution Article 1 Section 22 clearly state; "The right of the people to own and bear arms SHALL not be infringed". No mention of militia just that line. The definition of Infringe is very clear in its use there. I do tell gun control people if they do not like these things in the State and US constitution, they have the right to repeal them. However trying to circumvent them with regulation and unconstitutional laws that erode the rights of honest citizens is wrong and un-American in my opinion. Thank you for your debate on this and I hope I have given you pause to think about cause and effect of the actions you stated above on arms control. ;-}

There is not Country in the world that could attack the US on our soil with a land army and win byRead Moref orce of arms. 87 million arms civilians is the largest armed deterrent in history. Only a scorched earth policy Could do it and that would defeat the whole purpose of war with the US. The bottom line is stalemate in that case. It was the absolute reason for the Cold War. Mutual annihilation to the point of total destruction of the all land and infrastructure, resulting in nothing left to sustain life on either side. An free society armed is the best deterrent to genocide in my opinion as history has shown.
