DESCRIPTION:In the golden age of the catboat spanning from 1875 thru the
early 1900's\, Charles C. Hanley was busy producing the fastest racing
catboats of all time. A rule-of-thumb designer and builder\, he was qu
ite the opposite of his contemporary Nat Herreshoff yet succeeded in bu
ilding a line of fast catboats and centerboard sloops that were sought
after by the day's wealthiest yachtsmen.\nToday there are but few pict
ures and stories of Hanley Cats and no one had any first-hand knowledge
of these celebrated boats until in 2006\, the Beetle Boat shop launche
d&nbsp\;an extremely accurate rendition of&nbsp\;a 28' CC Hanley design
ed catboat. This is the story of KATHLEEN and her adventures and the re
sults of an experiment to re-create one of the fastest racing catboats
 of all time.
