Blithewold Mansion welcomes Kevin O’Connor, host of the venerable This Old House and Ask This Old House television programs. Join us for a sneak preview of the current season and learn about the show’s latest project; a 1930s cottage in the woods. Learn how the show is made, enjoy behind-the-scene stories and photos, and have all of your home improvement questions answered. Kevin will also share stories and photos about the Barrington Rhode Island project showcased on This Old House last year.
After the presentation, Kevin will answer questions, shake hands and sign autographs. He will also personalize copies of his new book “The Best Homes of This Old House” (copies cost $35).
Following a short refreshment break, we will then switch over to “Our Old House.” Architect Olga Bachilova will teach some of the general rules and challenges of historic preservation by using samples of different New England Projects, including the exciting preservation projects happening at Blithewold. She will be presenting before, during, and after images of the construction.

Blithewold Mansion, Gardens & Arboretum is a grand estate overlooking Bristol Harbor. This Queen Anne mansion has been kept well maintained in order to preserve its turn-of-the-20th-century style. The gardens and enclosed woodland feature an abundance of indigenous plant life, a rock garden and a variety of trees. Blithewold hosts an education summer camp, where children are taught botany, wildlife and environmental preservation. The mansion is available to be rented for special private events rental.
