WHY DON'T THEY DISCUSS COMBINING THE THREE TOWNS INTO ONE COUNTY GOVERNMENT AND REDUCE THE EXPENSE OF RUNNING OUR THREE TOWNS????WE DON'T NEED THREE POLICE CHIEFS, MANAGERS,FIRE CHIEFS,AND COULCILS, ETC. LETS GOVERN OUR TOWNS MORE EFFECTIVELY AND EFFICIENTLY. WE SHOULD ALSO CONSIDER PART TIME GOVERNMENT WORKERS IN OUR TOWN HALLS.

Probably because most people don't think it will save us any money. Combining the Bristol and Warren schools didn't save anything.

How do you reconcile the volunteer depts in Bristol and Warren with the Paid fire department in Barrington? Paid won't go back to volunteer. Bristol and Warren will end up paid which will cost us more money.

YOU NEED THE WILL TO CUT, THE POLITICS WON'T LET IT HAPPEN. YOU NEED LEGISLATION TO SOLVE THE FIRE SERVICES BETWEEN BRISTOL,WARREN, AND BARRINGTON. I KNOW MY CAP KEY IS ON, IT MAKES IT EASIER FOR ALL TO READ,THANK YOU.

Just a couple things on your plan Mr. Patterson. Towns have their own charters and like the constitution, they are not the easyest thig to change. The State has no right to mae a town change a charter, anymore than the fed has the right to interfer with state rights. That was the reason the towns had to vote on the schools being combined, which was with a caveate of saving money with the State helping out. None of the materialized in a meaningfull way and the taxpayers in both towns hae suffered for it.

This plan of compining towns will never happen, Newport, middletown and Portsmouth have been kicking it around for decades. Like here the people have individual love for their towns, and prefer to keep them that way. Smaller government, efficiently run with a deligent look for fraud waste and abuse is the better plan in my opinion.

Oh and no offence, but caps are considered shouting when used in a blog or forum. If a person has trouble reading they can merely change the "font size" under internet options in their browser. ;-}

You know it's all about politics,,,there is no love to keep political hacks in jobs with benefits and pensions. The state is in a losing battle with absolute power by one party,and until we stop this it will only end in bankrupcy. We need County Government to lessen the deficit problem. Our towns and cities can servive if we have the will and courage to make it happen. We need to stop "politics as usual" in this state.

Though I consider myself and Independent. ( not the Chaffee fake kind).

You are correct. It amazes me how so many in this state, do not know that it has been a single party control for over 70 years and counting. The Democrats have controled the house and senate by super majority for all that time. Even when you have had a Republican Governor, the veto means nothing. When you see a veto it is because they are allowing blame to be placed somewhere. They can and have over-ridden them when ever they want.

Even the old lesser of 2 evils choices here does not work mosrt times it seems. I agree we need a large change of the people taking back the power and running this State like Roger Williams envisioned, with the people in control not the politicians.

When you consider the influence of this State in the U.S. Constitution, and it is considerable what This State did during the Revolution and after, to make this Country not one of the greatest n the world, but the single most accomplished Country in history. No Country advanced faster or more prosperous in history.

We the People must have the State returned back to us, not to politicians and burocrats. nuff said ;-}.

"No country upon earth ever had it more in its power to attain these blessings than United America. Wondrously strange, then, and much to be regretted indeed would it be, were we to neglect the means and to depart from the road which Providence has pointed us to so plainly; I cannot believe it will ever come to pass." --George Washington
