5 Things: Property Taxes Due, Meetings and More

Five things you should know today - Thursday, Aug. 1, 2013 - in Bristol and Warren.

1. Hooray it's tax day! Quarterly property taxes are due today for Warren residents. Taxpayers can choose to pay online, in person or via phone. For more information on payment methods, visit the Town of Warren's website.

2. Bristol town meetings on Thurday, Aug. 1:

  • Trustees of the Rogers Free Library: Thursday, Aug. 1, 7 p.m. in the Herreshoff Community Room at the Rogers Free Library, 525 Hope St.
  • Bristol Historic District Commission: Thursday, Aug. 1, 7 p.m., in the Town Hall, 10 Court St.
3. Shoot some hoops in Bristol on Thursday. The Bristol over 40 men's basketball league hits the courts today. There is no fee to participate and players face off from 7 - 9 p.m.

4. Beauty and the Beast: The Bristol Theatre Company's Children's Theatre presents a cast of more than 60 children in Disney's Beauty and the Beast Jr. The players range from ages 6 - 18 years old and come from Bristol, Warren and across the East Bay.
Performances will be Aug. 1 - 3 at 7:30 p.m. at Mt. Hope High School in Bristol. Matinee performances will be at 2 p.m. on Aug. 3 and 4. Tickets cost from $12 - $25. For more information or to make reservations, call the box office at 401-424-1315.

5. There will be a chance of showers on Thursday, although mainly after 5 p.m., according to the National Weather Service station out of Taunton, MA. During the day, it will be mostly sunny, with a high near 79.
