Here are some things to know about today, Jan. 8, in and around Bristol and Warren:

Mainly sunny and not as cold with a high temperature of around 25 degrees.

The 12th annual J. P. Medeiros Jr. Memorial Hockey Cup game between the boys' teams from Barrington and Mt. Hope high schools to benefit a scholarship fund named in his honor starts at 6:30 pm at the Portsmouth Abbey ice rink.

The Medeiros hockey cup game at Portsmouth Abbey will be preceded by a matchup of the Barrington/Mt. Hope/Portsmouth Co-op girls’ hockey team and the Narragansett/North Kingstown/South Kingstown Co-op team at 5 pm.

The Bristol Town Council meets at 7 pm in the Council Chambers in Town Hall,

The Bristol County Water Authority board of directors holds a special meeting on its budget, including a rate increase, at 6 pm at its office at 450 Child St., Warren. 

Wednesday Night at the Movies at the Rogers Free Library, 525 Hope St. Bristol, shows “Stuck in Love” at 7 pm in the Herreshoff Community Room. The 2012 romantic-drama stars Jennifer ConnellyGreg KinnearLily CollinsNat Wolff and Logan Lerman.

The East Bay Knitters get together at the Rogers Free Library, 525 Hope St., Bristol from 1 to 4 pm in the Quiet Study Room.
