Pennies for Pooches, Line Dancing and Tunnel Vision

Five things to know on Friday, Aug. 2 in Bristol and Warren.

1. Help your a friend with four paws and a tail today! One local woman is raising money for the Bristol Animal Shelter but cutting off an inch of her hair for every $100 she collects in donations. This week, the Bristol Animal Shelter donation jar in the Woof! Woof! Pet Boutique & Biscuit Bar store will go towards her collections. She is hoping to raise $1,500 before Aug. 5 and cut off 15 inches of her hair for the fur babies! Stop by the store if you would like to donate, any amount helps!

2. Line Dancing Party: Join Bristol and Warren residents in the Community Hall at the Benjamin Church Manor, 1014 Hope St., Bristol, on Friday, Aug. 2 from 10 a.m. - 11 a.m for a morning of line dancing and fun.

3. Tunnel Vision Arts and Crafts hits the Herreshoff Community Room at the Rogers Free Library on Friday, Aug. 2. From 9:30 a.m. to noon, there will be many crafts for young readers! No registration is needed. Make your own raccoon puppet, pyramid, mummy, book mark or lamp.

4. Today is the last chance to see Heroes & Villains at Hope Gallery. The art exhibit, inspired by heroes, villains, hope and heroism depicts fictional and non-fictional people and events in comic book and action adventure illustrations, drawings, paintings, sculptures, photographs and blown glass. Visit the Hope Gallery, located at 435 Hope St. in Bristol before you miss it!

5. Don't let the overnight thunderstorms get you down, weather forecasters are predicting that rain clouds and patchy fog will clear between 7 and 8 a.m. While the morning will remain overcast, skies will gradually clear and make for a mostly sunny afternoon. High temperatures will be around 83 degrees, according to the National Weather Service Station in Taunton, MA.
