Qunita-Gamelin Goes Bristol, Intro Pilates and More

Bristol's New Community Center: The US Department of Defense will hand the keys to shuttered Army Reserve base Quinta-Gamelin to Bristol town officials in a ceremony on Tuesday, Aug. 6. The ceremony starts at noon. A $1 million dollar renovation project over the next year will transform the military base into a center for community congregation.

2. Introducing Pilates in Warren: Pilates Apparatus adds resistance, reduces strain, promotes proper alignment, and helps teach you how to move correctly in your active day-to-day life.
Start a four-week introductory course into pilates today. The first class begins at 9 a.m. at True Balance Pilates Studio, located at 141 Water St., Warren. The four-week class costs $100.

3. Bang Out Some Beats! The Rhythm Quest Percussion group for teenagers meets today at the Bristol Community Center from 6 - 8 p.m. This program is for youth age 11-18 interested in learning how to play band style drumming. Call for more information.

4. Spread some Knowledge: The Literacy Volunteers of East Bay meet today in the Quiet Room at the Rogers Free Library from 6:30 - 8 p.m. For more information, call John Resendes at 253-7505.
