Serve Your Community; Bang Some Drums

2. A locally based novel is the topic of discussion as Hester Kaplan, an 
American short story writer, novelist and faculty member of Lesley 
University’s creative writing program, hosts a discussion at the Roger Williams University Library, 1 Old Ferry Road, Bristol, Tuesday at 4:30 p.m. Kaplan will read from her recent novel “The Tell,” which is set in Providence’s east side, and discuss the role the city played in shaping her novel, as well as how living in Rhode Island influences her writing.

3. Everyone loves the drummer! Be the object of music lovers' affection — learn to play the drums at the Rhythm Quest Percussion Program Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. at the Bristol Community Center, 1020 Hope St.

But, as will happen during fall in New England, temperatures are expected to begin dropping overnight, falling to a low in the low-40s. Rain is expected Wednesday, with a high of only 52.
