Take in Talk on Jefferson's Garden; Check Your Blood Pressure

Here are some things to know about today, Nov. 7, in Bristol and Warren:

  • Some rain early in the day and lingering into the afternoon with a high temperature around 60 degrees.
  • Listen to an illustrated talk by Peter J. Hatch on Thomas Jefferson’s Revolutionary Garden at Monticello, Virginia, at Blithewold Mansions, Gardens and Arboretum in Bristol at 10 am. Hatch is the former Director of Gardens & Grounds at Monticello, an award-winning author, and advisor to First Lady Michelle Obama on the White House kitchen garden. The talk will be followed by a luncheon and book signing. Cost is $75 for members and $85 for non-members. Click here for a video.
  • The Visiting Nurse Service of Bristol and Newport County holds a free Blood Pressure Clinic from 11 am to noon. Come to the main floor on the first Thursday of every month.
  • The Fermata Arts Foundation of Avon, Conn., is displaying at the Rogers Free Library , 525 Hope St., some student art work from its collection called “Ideal House.”  The works were created by school and university students in Tbilisi and Tskeneti, cities in Republic of Georgia. The display hangs in the Herreshoff Community Room.
  • The East Bay Contra Dance continues at the Warren Community Center, 790 Main St., at 7:30 pm. 
  • Euclid Financial Services presents a seminar on Social Security planning at the Rogers Free Library, 525 Hope St., from 5:30 to 7:30 pm in the Herreshoff Community Room
