Here are some things to know about today, Dec. 5, in and around Bristol and Warren: 

  • Overcast with some showers but warmer with temperatures topping out near 55 degrees.
  • Take a holiday tour of Linden Place Mansion in downtown Bristol; the 200-year old Federal-style mansion is decorated beautiful wreaths, illuminated mantles and evergreen swags for the holiday season throughout the month of December. 
  • The Visiting Nurse Service of Bristol and Newport County will offer a free blood pressure check in the foyer of the Rogers Free Library from 11 am to noon.
  • TAP-IN, the Barrington-based social services agency for the East Bay, celebrates the 30th anniversary of its founding at the Rhode Island Country Club.
  • Thursday Night Write workshops continue from 6 to 7 pm at the Rogers Free Library. There will be writing prompts, suggestions and friendly reviews of submitted writings.
  • Want to contra dance? Go to the Warren Community Center at 790 Main St. and join East Bay Contra Dance. You don’t need a partner. There is a $5 fee.
