BAYSIDE YMCA IN BARRINGTON INVITES ALL YOUNG WOMEN AGES 10-18 TO INFORMATIVE DISCUSSION ON BREAST HEALTH

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

It is a myth to think that breast cancer only affects older women.  Moreover, with all the health and wellness messages bombarding us on a daily basis, it is sometimes easy to block out what we don’t want to hear.  And, nobody wants to hear the women they love are at risk for breast cancer.  However, there are ways to help those you love in the fight against breast cancer.  As a service to young women and their families, the Bayside YMCA in Barrington will host Mary Ann Wasil on Wednesday, October 23 at 7:00 pm to talk with young women, ages 10-18, about breast health.  Wasil is the founder of the Get In Touch Foundation, an international educational breast health non-profit organization, a mother of three, and a breast cancer survivor herself.  All mothers AND fathers are encouraged to join their daughters for this very informative, and lively discussion.

Wasil founded the Get In Touch Foundation after being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2004.  She realized that her two daughters, then ages 12 and 13, needed “breast health” to be a part of their lives, as well as the lives of all young women.  The sole mission of the Get In Touch Foundation is “to provide breast health initiatives that educate gals and guys of all ages how to “Get In Touch” with their bodies, information, and each other in our crusade against breast cancer.”

Wasil, in collaboration with a medical consulting board, including a school nurse, a pediatrician, an oncologist, a breast surgeon and a radiologist, developed the Get In Touch Foundation’s highly innovative Get In Touch Girls’ Program & Daisy Wheel® breast health initiative to teach girls in grades 5-12 the importance of, and how to do a breast self-exam – for life!  Their global initiative will place a Daisy Wheel in the hands of every girl in the world!

All the young women who attend Wasil’s presentation on October 23 will be given a Get In Touch Foundation Daisy Wheel.
