OceanPoint Financial Partners MHC Announces Donations

On behalf of the Corporators of OceanPoint Financial Partners, MHC, parent company of BankNewport and OceanPoint Insurance Agency, Inc., President and CEO, Sandra J. Pattie awarded two donations, each in the amount of $500, to the Corliss Institute, Inc. of Warren and the Housing Hotline of Newport.

Founded in 1982, the Corliss Institute, Inc. is an innovative community based agency that provides social, habilitation and employment services to developmentally disabled adults with a specialization in deafness or hearing loss, with varying modes of communication.  All services are based on individual needs and goals, using an independence and empowerment-based model that facilitates living, learning and working successfully as integrated members of the community.  Corliss serves Members from Bristol County and throughout Rhode Island.

Originally established in 1979 by Newport Police Officer, Jimmy Winters to aid Newport’s homeless population, the Housing Hotline has grown to provide assistance for all basic human needs and emergency support to individuals and families from Newport County.  The face of homelessness and need has changed, as people from all walks of life approach Housing Hotline for help.  They are on the front line, helping with emergency shelter, utility and fuel assistance, clothing, food and furniture, bus fare and transportation.  Housing Hotline works collaboratively with area human services organizations, regularly referring clients to specialized resources. 

“We hold the important work of Corliss Institute and the Housing Hotline in great regard,” said President Pattie.  “The donations will hopefully assist in their continued efforts to support those most in need throughout our communities.”
