Town of Bristol/RWU Cooperative Committee Accepting Civic Activities Grant Applications through November 1

As part of the Fund for Civic Activities established in 2007 when Roger Williams University and the Town of Bristol agreed to a 20-year PILOT (payment in lieu of taxes) accord, the Town of Bristol / Roger Williams University Cooperative Committee is currently soliciting grant requests to be submitted by Friday, Nov. 1.

Through the FCA, the Committee awards more than $25,000 each year to Bristol residents and organizations leading projects that enhance the civic experience and community life in Bristol. Selections are made by the 12-person Cooperative Committee, which comprises individuals from both the Town and the University.

Applications for the current funding cycle are due by Nov. 1, and applicants will receive notification by early December. Approximately $12,500 will be awarded during the fall cycle; to date, nearly 90 projects and initiatives have received $132,976 through the FCA program.

The goal of the FCA is not to replace or serve as substitute for public support of the Town’s budget, but instead to enhance the projects, programs and services for all residents in Bristol. Proposals that request funding for direct costs of new initiatives will be given first preference.
