Monday Essentials: Victory Day, Falling Stars

Victory Day: Monday, Aug. 12, 2013 marks Victory Day, which means that state and municipal offices are closed today, including here in Coventry. Remember, trash collection will be delayed on day for the week. Click here for more Victory Day closing info.

Peak Stargazing Night: The Perseid meteor shower is already underway and will continue through Aug. 24, but the peak viewing will be tonight, Aug. 12, when stargazers may see upward of 60 meteorites flash before them per hour. Click here to learn more.

Pilates and Wine. Grab a friend and take an invigorating Pilates class taught by Fitness Fusion's studio owner Danielle Rogers, followed by vino & healthy summer appetizers created by nutritionist Lauren Talbert. A food coach will tell you how to prepare her healthy summer treats!

Early Bird Bootcamp. To create a healthier community Bristol Total Fitness and Bristol Parks and Recreation invites local residents to participate in a free Saturday morning 60-minute boot camp Saturday Aug. 17 at 6:30 a.m. at Independence Park. In case of extreme weather, it will be held at Bristol Total Fitness, 685 Metacom Ave., Bristol.

Wear your workout attire and be prepared to sweat. Bristol Total Fitness will supply the water. Liability waiver must be signed prior to participating. 

Bristol Boat Show. The Bristol Boat & Artisan Show will be held on Saturday and Sunday, Aug. 17 and 18, 2013 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Independence Park in Bristol. The Boat Show features new and used boats, Arts and Crafts. There will also be food for sale.
