Snow Projections Bumped Up Again
Much of Rhode Island may now get up to a foot of snow Tuesday into Wednesday.
Snowfall projections have been steadily on the rise all weekend, and that trend has continued Tuesday. Much of Rhode Island is now projected to see up to a foot of snow.
The storm is expected to start dumping snow across the area late Tuesday afternoon, intensifying overnight before coming to an end Wednesday morning. Frigid temperatures will make for light, fluffy snow that will accumulate quickly. Snowfall will be heavy at times, especially Tuesday night, accompanied by single-digit temperatures and strong winds gusting higher than 20 mph.
The National Weather Service has issued a winter storm watch for all of Rhode Island through Wednesday morning. A blizzard warning has been issued for Cape Cod, and blizzard conditions could reach as far as Rhode Island's East Bay.
Snowfall totals vary depending on which forecaster you listen to, but all local forecasts agree Rhode Islanders will have at least several inches in their yards by Wednesday morning. The National Weather Service is predicting 8-10 inches all along the I-95 corridor, with less to the west of 95. Local forecasts for the state include:
NBC 10: 6-12 inches
WPRI Channel 12: 6-10 inches
ABC-6: 9-12 inches along the coast; 5-9 inches inland
