Stompin' for Strings set for Friday

Proceeds benefit the Community String Project.

The Barn at Mt. Hope Farm will be hopping on Friday.

Stompin' for Strings — a traditional New England barn dance fundraiser — is on from 7 to 10 p.m. and proceeds benefit the Community String Project.

This engaging and spirited annual event will feature the Atwater-Donnelly Trio, performers in great demand throughout southern New England. Experienced dance caller Elwood Donnelly will teach the steps. Guests will enjoy appetizers from Russell Morin, homemade desserts, and raffle prizes, while learning Virginia reels, circle, square, and contra dances from the colonial period to the present.

There is also a cash bar.

Proceeds will go towards providing free or subsidized string lessons and instruments to underserved students in CSP, a non-profit after-school program.

A limited number of tickets are available and can be purchased through communitystringproject.org  or by calling 401-500-1243
