Bristol Coffee House to Feature Noted Bluegrass Singer, Band

The Stone Church Coffee House presents Amy Gallatin and Stillwaters on Saturday evening.

The Stone Church Coffee House in Bristol will feature a dynamic bluegrass singer and her band on Saturday evening, Nov. 9.

Amy Gallatin and Stillwaters will play at 7:30 pm. The coffee house is located at the First Congregational Church, 300 High St. – the corner of High and Bradford streets.

Gallatin has been blending her vocals with the acoustic sounds of resophinic guitarist Roger Williams in classic country duets for many years. They have been joined by his son, J.D. Williams, and veteran bassist Eric Levenson.

Their performances are described as “a toe-tapping blend of heartfelt vocals, soaring harmonies and red-hot picking, traditional yet modern and distinct,” according to their website.

Gallatin has been a staple on the acoustic music scene since her arrival in New England from Montana in 1993. She is noted for her “shimmering, heartfelt vocals and quality song selections.”

Williams, a veteran bluegrass musician, was known for his masterful touch on the resophonic guitar during his tenure with White Mountain Bluegrass, Southern Rail, Blue Diamond and the New England Bluegrass Band. He is described now as coming into his own as a vocalist and songwriter.

Levenson has played with Joe Val and the New England Bluegrass Boys and Boston City Limits.

Gallatin and her band have taken the stage at some of the most prestigious venues in the U.S., Mexico, and Europe. Their most recent performances in The Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Switzerland and Denmark drew enthusiastic crowds at house concerts, music clubs, theaters, country and bluegrass festivals, and on National Radio. They also represented the United States as the featured performers at the European World of Bluegrass convention in The Netherlands.

Gallatin and Stillwaters are expected to play songs from their new release, “Phoenix.”  The all-acoustic songs explore the gamut of American roots music, according to a review of the album.
