Baronas, who works out of a studio in the Cutler Mill in Warren, is one of 36 artists selected for the exhib. Baronas worked for 22 years as a designer and creative director in the textile industry before working full time as an artist.

The 1979 graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design brings her extensive knowledge of textiles to her work. She draws upon her own family’s connections to the textile mills that once were the center of activity of many towns and cities in Rhode Island.

Baronas may be best known for partnering with the Warren Preservation Society to study the mills and workers who helped shape that town.

The Warren Mill Project featured artwork, historical research, video and music. It was funded in part by the RI Council for the Humanities. And it has developed into an ongoing investigation of the mills and people who helped build the former textile industry in America. Click here for the YouTube video on the project.
