Frozen Outside, Frozen Yogurt Inside at Orange Leaf

The Bristol shop opens its door today, Jan. 23, at noon in Bell Tower Plaza on Metacom Avenue.

It may be bitter cold outside, but Cheryl Cote promises that you will find a warm, bright and cheery atmosphere inside the Orange Leaf frozen yogurt shop she and her husband, Paul, are opening today, Jan. 23, at noon in Bristol.

The shop is located in Bell Tower Plaza at 578 Metacom Ave. It’s the second Orange Leaf they will be operating in the area. They opened their first store in Swansea, Mass., last April.

“It’s family-run and family-oriented,” said Cheryl.

“And we are real big in trying to get the community involved through fundraisers,” said Paul.

“We’ve already reached out to the Bristol-Warren schools,” said Cheryl. “We will tailor a fundraiser to meet your needs.”

“And people get something in return for their contributions,” said Paul, “a delicious bowl of frozen yogurt with just any topping you can think of.”

The shop offers 16 flavors of yogurt, most gluten-free, and several that are dairy-free and sugar-free. There are more than 40 toppings, including fresh fruit, to make your own sundaes.

“Of course, it’s all done by the ounce,” said Cheryl. “You want sprinkles? You can get as many as you want here.”

You shouldn’t have to wait too long to build your own handmade sundae, she said.

“We have a double topping bar to alleviate long lines,” Cheryl said.

The shop has colorful orange and green plastic chairs and tables for approximately 40 people, with plenty of room for birthday parties. For every $10 you spend, she said, you get $1 off.

Senior citizens get discounts from Monday to Wednesday. The shop is open 7 days a week. It is opening with winter hours: Sunday through Thursday from 12 to 9 pm and Friday and Saturday from noon to 10 pm.

Starting Feb. 5 with “Buzz Lightyear” and every Wednesday after that from 6 to 8 pm will be “character night.” Kids can come in and meet a favorite movie, TV or cartoon character.
