The compact 1-series by BMW is considered the company's entry-level sedan, powered by a 3.0L inline six that pushes 230 hp. A power soft-top is standard on the convertible, according to cars.com

This red-over-black Chevy carries a 3.6L V6 that produces 323 hp and a power roof. Also features AM/FM/satellite radio with controls on the steering wheel.

3. 2013 Volkswagen Eos Komfort — $33,902.

VW's newest addition offers a sporty feel with great fuel mileage from the 2.0L turbo that cranks out 200 mph. The Eos carries a five-piece hardtop that the company says folds down in 25 seconds, and includes an integrated power moonroof.

4. 2013 Mazda Miata MX-5 Sport — $23,999.

With a 92-in. wheelbase and 158 hp packed inside the 2.0L inline 4, this two-door Mazda boasts great handling. This black-on-black cruiser has a manual roof.

5. 2013 Fiat 500C Pop — $20,200.

What it lacks in price and size [just 91 in.] scales, the Fiat makes up in the coolness factor — a one-button control allows for retracting the cloth roof part-way, or stowing it completely. It may not be a "true" convertible, in the sense that the roof structure remains in place, though that helps with the handling.

2013 Mercedez-Benz SL550 — $127,655.
