The Newport Concert Series at the Newport Yachting Center announces that Gregg Allman, Rock & Roll Hall of Famer and founding member of the legendary southern rock and blues group, the Allman Brothers Band, will headline on Sunday, August 10th.  Tickets for Gregg Allman with Special Guest Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band are available for purchase for $29.50, $49.50 and $59.50 by visiting www.newportwaterfrontevents.com or by calling Ticketmaster at 800-745-3000.  The gates for the concert will open at 5:00 p.m. followed by music on The Point Stage and then Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band will take the Main Stage at 6:00 p.m.  The Newport Concert Series will take place from late May through October at its unique waterfront venue in downtown Newport.

Known for his soulful voice and distinctive Hammond B-3 organ playing, Allman wrote many of ABB’s classic songs and also penned hits of his own including “Queen of Hearts” and “I’m No Angel”. His most recent solo album release is the Grammy-nominated Low Country Blues which was produced by T Bone Burnett and shows the true passion Allman has for his own tunes, as well as the special twist he gives songs by blues greats including B.B. King, Muddy Waters and Buddy Guy. The latest tribute to Allman’s vast talents is the soon to be released live album entitled All My Friends which features giants in the music industry, including Vince Gill, Jackson Browne and Widespread Panic, celebrating his catalog of songs.
