Community Update

East Bay Community
Action Program (EBCAP) Head Start is now enrolling income eligible children
from birth to age five who reside in Rhode Island’s East Bay Region: Tiverton,
Little Compton, Portsmouth, Middletown, Newport, Jamestown, Barrington,
Bristol, Warren or East Providence.  



Program offerings include:
free half day classroom services for preschoolers; free home-based services for
pregnant women and families with infants/toddlers; and child care for infants,
toddlers and preschoolers.  Assistance is
provided to families applying for the RI DHS Child Care Certificate.



All programs
include the following services: learning activities for young children, parent
groups, family fun activities, parenting courses, healthy meals and snacks,
family goal setting supported by Head Start staff, health and dental screening,
dental services, and more.  All services
are provided to assist low-income, at-risk families to support their children
so they are ready to learn and succeed in kindergarten and beyond.

EBCAP Head Start
does not provide transportation, however, staff will assist families to
understand and access transportation options through the following services: provision
of

information about RIPTA bus passes,
routes and other services or individual assistance with transportation issues
such as flexible scheduling and alternative site placements.

EBCAP Head Start
is operated as part of East Bay Community Action Program, a private, nonprofit
organization providing health and human services in the East Bay area for
nearly 50 years.  Head Start sites are
located in East Providence, Warren, Newport and Tiverton.
