Daffodil Days Yard Sale A Huge Success!

The East Bay Food Pantry Thrift Shop saw a steady flow of shoppers from 9AM until 2 PM on the Saturday of Daffodil Days weekend. "We were thrilled by how many new people walked through our doors," said EBFP Board of Directors VP Nicki Tyska, who worked the sale. "Most people were shocked by the size of the shop and had no idea of the many treasures they would find within."

The EBFP Thrift Shop, located on the corner of Franklin and Wood Streets in downtown Bristol, offers a wide array of fabulous bargains including clothing, jewelry and accessories for adult and child fashionistas and for anyone searching for those perfect wardrobe additions. There is always a wide assortment of household items, furniture, artwork and curios for those stocking a new home or looking to refresh a tired decor. Books, games and toys can be found for the little ones.

"There is literally something for everyone here." Denise Arsenault, another board member is an avid shopper of the thrift shop, leaving with her own one-of-a-kind treasures each week. "And all at prices of a bargain hunter's dream."

"Daffodil Days was a wonderful way to get the word out about our Thrift Shop," said Loretta Marion, President of the Board of Directors. "We are trying to educate people in our community that every dollar spent in the Thrift Shop helps stock our Healthy Pantry with nutritious food. And while we appreciate all the donations of goods that come into the shop, we also want to encourage people to make purchases. Our new unofficial tag line is make a drop, then stay and shop!"

The EBFP and Thrift shop has been supporting the East Bay community with their important work since 2009.  Executive Director Anita Randall reports that the agency serves over 1000 individuals each month with more than 5000 East Bay residents receiving assistance from one or more of their comprehensive Access Nutrition programs throughout the year. This she accomplishes with the help of four part time staffers and an astoundingly committed force of volunteers who donated nearly 10,000 hours in the past year.

"We will continue to do this as long as there is a need," said Randall. "Our hope is for that need to one day go away. But until that happens we remain inspired by our mission: Engaging, educating and empowering the East Bay in creating a hunger-free community." And the EBFP and Thrift Shop will continue to look for ways to partner within the community and become involved in events such as Daffodil Days.

"It was a really fun day for everyone," said Tyska, who brought her entire family and arranged for free popcorn and face painting for the children who tagged along to the sale with their parents. "We will definitely be doing this again for next year's Daffodil Days!"

The EBFP Thrift Shop is open to the community Wednesdays 10AM-5PM, Thursdays and Fridays 10 AM- 4 PM, and Saturdays 10 AM - 3 PM for anyone who wishes to donate items or enjoy some shopping therapy.  Shopping for a cause has never been more fun!
