5 Things: Meet the Candidates

Here are 5 Things to know in Bristol and Warren today.


1. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend a "Meet The Candidate" event for local, state and school committee seats in Bristol on tonight from 6 to 9 in the Franklin Court Independent Living Community Room, 150 Franklin St. ( Use Wood Street entrance). 

The event is being hosted by East Bay Community Development Corp., with assistance from East Bay Chamber of Commerce. This is an opportunity for voters to learn more about the candidates and listen to them answer questions. 

2. Power, politics and religion clash in the untold stories depicted in the nonfiction prose of John M. Barry, a local bestselling author whose acclaimed books – including his latest, Roger Williams and the Creation of the American Soul: Church, State and the Birth of Liberty, published in January of this year – have won more than 20 awards.

Learn more about Barry's research and knowledge of the state's founder during this week's installment of the Mary Tefft White Cultural Center Lecture Series at Roger Williams University today at 6 p.m.
