EAST BAY CONTRA DANCE

CHESTNUTS AND MODERM CONTRAS WORKSHOP & DANCE!

Thursday, October 3rd, 2013 ~ 7:30pm
With: Elwood Donnelly & Don Heinold, callers/instructors & Live music by "South Coast" with Matt McConeghy on fiddle, Rob McConeghy on piano, Ralph Bodington on concertina and Rich Horwitz on banjo.

Learn the steps and figures necessary to accomplish with great confidence, modern day contra dances and chestnut dances! "Chestnuts" is a term is sometimes used for a group of older dances, ones that have been part of the contra repertoire for a long time, somewhere between 100 and 200 years of contra dancing. In many cases, but not all, there is a tune associated with the dance: Money Musk, for example, gets played for the dance of the same name, or Chorus Jig, or Rory O'More.

It's a fun evening of dancing, laughing, and learning! We have such a good time and would love to have you join us!
