Furniture Sale at Blithewold

After a thoughtful and deliberative process, Blithewold’s Collection Committee has chosen a number of pieces of undocumented furniture to sell at a Barn Sale to be held on Saturday, September 21, 2013, from 9:00am to noon, in the Carriage House. Items include chairs, daybeds, and sofas. All the furniture in the sale belonged to Bessie Van Wickle McKee, and some may be originally from other family residences.

All the pieces are being sold “as is.” Some of them have old insect damage, and all require some level of repair and re-upholstering. Sale prices will reflect this need. We feel confident that these pieces can be restored to a level that would make the effort worthwhile, and customers will have the rare opportunity of owning a piece of Blithewold history. Prices will be reduced to “Best Offer” between 11am and noon.

All proceeds of the sale will benefit the conservation of Blithewold’s permanent collection
