4th of July Souvenir Button Contest Starts

The deadline for entries in the souvenir button contest for the 2014 Fourth of July celebration in Bristol is Jan. 10.

Design next year’s official Fourth of July commemorative button and ride in the parade. The contest has begun.

Entry forms for the competition have been posted in several locations, including the Rogers Free Library, 525 Hope St.; Town Hall, 10 Court St.; all schools in Bristol and the Kickemuit Middle School in Warren, and at 136 Express on Metacom Avenue. 

All Bristol children from kindergarten to grade 12 can enter.

There are three categories: K to grade 5; grades 6 to 8, and grades 9 to 12. Each winner will get $50 and an invitation to ride in the 2014 Fourth of July Parade.

There also will be one winner chosen from among the three category winners. That winner will receive another $75.

The deadline for entries is about five weeks away: Jan. 10.
